There is a place I go to when it’s quiet The walls are way too thin Not to hear you crying Bury the years In the shallows, love Lock your door Where they can’t find you Weary eyes blatantly gazing Back at me Hollow deception It all comes out now The words we use are Blindly suffocating this room So we drown in The pale shade of The two lovers We used to be Weary eyes blatantly gazing Back at me Hollow deception Weary eyes blatantly gazing Back at me Hollow deception In the morning sun There is smoke in your lungs In the morning sun Our names disappear
2.
Morpheus 03:41
Wide-eyed, bodies close Innocence, youth can bruise young hearts Indigo nights that we’re breathing in Upstream running creek Forever runs lonesome In secrecy Laying in the sheets of your honesty Your inner silence seeps through The words you speak I can’t tell you what’s home Since I’m gone We’re running with the wolves Forever run lonesome In secrecy Laying in the sheets of your honesty Your inner silence seeps through The words you speak Put me back to sleep Morpheus Put him back to sleep Morpheus Put me back to sleep Morpheus Put him back to sleep Morpheus In secrecy Laying in the sheets of your honesty Your inner silence seeps through The words you speak In secrecy Laying in the sheets of your honesty Your inner silence seeps through The words you speak

Howling 03:16
There are whispers in the tree And they‘re calling me Oh they‘re calling, Calling me back again The falling rain sounds like a melody, A melody, that’s long been gone An almost forgotten one All the sirens and the demons They‘re teasing me The promise of their chains to release me free The snake and the devil They‘re pleasing me But I left them Howling I left them howling I‘m riding on the back of an elephant It guides me, to the tempted land Golden fields of sweet sweet lies They scratch their hands While I’m passing by A shadow in his own light All the sirens and the demons They‘re teasing me The promise of their chains to release me free The snake and the devil They‘re pleasing me But I left them Howling I left them howling But I left them
4.
TV 03:45
The TV is loud She can barely hear her thoughts A notebook with names She might have heard of The curtains are closed And her daylight hides It‘s early spring And she forgets who her husband was Tell me all the stories I’ve heard a thousand times A 1001, 1002, 1003 I‘ll bear them for you A 1001, 1002, 1003 I‘ll keep them for you The TV is loud She can barely hear me talk She holds my hand She won’t believe a word They‘re all strange, they stole her purse People trying to help Will only make it worse Tell me all the stories I’ve heard a thousand times A 1001, 1002, 1003 I‘ll bear them for you A 1001, 1002, 1003 I‘ll keep them for you Soon sitting on her timeless throne She will be home soon I will stay, when she goes Soon sitting on her timeless throne She will be home soon I will stay, when she goes
5.
Oh lord, I close my eyes Till the day I go blind And I, I do not care What you’re doing over there On your throne in your palace of gold As long as you don’t mess around In these walls of mine Upheaval in our countryside But we won’t defy the king Even if we chose a side It’s the mess where we hide We are not fighting who we are As long as we could spend our days Just caring for our prayers We are used to living with our sins ’cause that is, what a good day brings Upheaval in our countryside But we won’t defy the king Even if we chose a side It’s the mess where we hide On your throne in your palace of gold On your throne in your palace of gold On your throne in your palace of gold On your throne in your palace of gold
6.
The Swallow 03:59
You cared for my dreams Like a mother for her child Oh all the love You left behind You got carried away Like the swallow leaves with the winter sun The rhythm we danced to Turns into a lonely drum You’re gone, you’re gone You’re gone with the winter sun You were like a crusader Desperate for the holy grail So you had to move on Far away, only words remain I’ve tried to catch up But even your shadow is a raw draft The lilies are withered That you once plucked You’re gone, you’re gone You’re gone with the winter sun You’re gone, you’re gone You’re gone with the winter sun The swallow is back But you, you stay wherever you are
7.
Eldorado 04:03
Sunday morning, the coffee is brewed He’s all suit up, she’s wearing his brooch Getting ready for church Like good people do
Eldorado, the car is new Daddy’s smiling when the neighbours salute She’s pretty While she prays the rosary
My dad is a hard-working man That’s what my mama said My dad is paying all the bills So we show him some respect ‚Your mother’s feeling sick today’ That is what my father says Broken porcelain On the kitchen floor
Second time this week the doctor rings the door bell Because mama fell down the stairs Blue petticoat Blue bruises on her throat My dad is a hard-working man That’s what my mama said As long as we live under his roof We need to show him some respect Daddy drinks, Mama cries and I hide during night - And the neighbours salute - His Sunday prayers they can’t hide the sins and demons of the night - And the neighbours salute - Forgive me father My dad, a hard-working man And the neighbours salute My dad, paying all the bills And the neighbours salute My dad, a hard-working man And the neighbours salute My dad, paying all the bills So we show him some respect
8.
Her Ghost 03:33
‚You don’t talk to me like you used to do’ His words are crawling through her head ‚You don’t touch me now like you used to do’ His words are crawling through her skin But she knows she holds his heart in her hands And her ghost he’s waiting for to come back He doesn’t make her feel What she felt before Words aren’t always spoken truth Is there something else that might have changed them selves? In-between their vanished youth But she knows she holds his heart in her hands And her ghost he’s waiting for to come back He doesn’t know what to say after all this time She can’t differ between wrong or right She doesn’t know how to feel after all this time He’s only watching her turning his days into nights His heart In her hands His heart In her hands His heart

about

Presenting her debut album 'Things We’ve Got In Common', Amber & the Moon transports us to hidden places of somber beauty. The Hamburg-based indie-folk trio, led by singer and songwriter Ronja Pöhlmann, releases their debut album on the 27th of January via the Label Pop Up Records. Things We’ve Got In Common tells us about secret places where human fantasy and reality collides and merges into mysterious and vivid sonic worlds. The atmospheric arrangements alternate between fragility, conveyed by acoustic instruments and Ronja’s intimate singing style, and intense cinematic soundscapes.

about

Amber & the Moon Hamburg, Germany

Amber & the Moon writes songs of somber beauty. Fragile and intimate textured acoustic arrangements create a mysterious and haunting atmosphere. While her lyrics hint at melancholy and vulnerability, any sentiment of wistful poignancy is alleviated by singer Ronja’s delicate and emotive voice. Amber & the Moon’s moody indie-folk music recalls colors of artists such as Daughter & Laura Marling. ... more
